Hi!

And welcome to GLUTEN and the BEAST!

If we have one thing in common, it is likely to do with eating gluten-free.

Whether you have Celiac Disease, NCGS or, you're simply a friend or family member of someone who does, I'm so glad you're here.

GLUTEN and the BEAST is a creative outlet for dealing with a recent diagnosis of Celiac Disease. It took me years to get a diagnosis and fit all the jigsaw pieces together.

The relief of a diagnosis was quickly eclipsed by the challenges of now knowing and living with a chronic autoimmune disease.

At first, the idea of going gluten-free seems ok, but once you know the depths of what this means (cross-contamination, social isolation, medical complications) it is hard. I see you, I feel you and it is 100% ok to say it sucks. But life does get better.

I don't have a fancy kitchen or an extravagant food budget, or even a stable 9-5. I'm a creative and conservationists and so I am someone who works in an office, but also out in the field and on the ocean. I spend time in places and countries that are gluten-free friendly, but I spend more time in places where there is no "gluten-free" or "free-from" food range. The challenge of living gluten free really changes when there is little to no access to information or gluten free products. This was really hard for me at first, but then I pivoted to try and get round some of these challenges. The things I share in my blog will reflect this lifestyle.

What GLUTEN and the BEAST is not is medical advice. I am not a Doctor and everything on this website is a personal take on my experience. Take your health seriously and seek medical professionals.

Life is a rollercoaster - there are highs and lows, but it's the ride of a lifetime and this is the one we have.

xoxo
